Department Overview

The three time World Champion San Francisco Giants continue to establish itself as a global brand. Since moving to downtown San Francisco, the Giants home, Oracle Park has been lauded as one of the finest ballparks in all of baseball. The Giants continue to innovate the sports industry with some of the brightest and best professionals working in the front office in a variety of departments.

Baseball Operations

Baseball Operations
Evaluates and procures all player personnel via amateur, professional & international scouting as well as performance analysis. Translates quality Major and Minor League player personnel into World Series Championships through Major and Minor League coaching, advance scouting, quality medical care and athletic training.


Communications

Media Relations

Responsible for all baseball related communications. Handle daily media requests for interviews, baseball information, and credentialing. Help facilitate player availability for media both at home and on the road. Arrange player photo and commercial shoots. Provide daily player notes for media use. Compile and send Giants related clips to front office and media daily and distribute notes, lineup sheets and other game day materials for all home games. Maintain home press box, including media seating and availability of press materials. 

Public Affairs/Giants Community Relations

The Giants Community Relations team provides support for all Giants business and community programs. They manage and execute player/coach/training staff non-media appearances. Organize, implement, and coordinate a variety of community outreach activities and programs while building positive and ongoing relationships with the community.

External Affairs

San Francisco Giants External Affairs department develops and executes strategies, in coordination with other departments, to strengthen the organization’s relationships in key communities - prioritizing neighborhood relations, government relations, and strategic partnerships. External Affairs proactively supports and promotes equity, diversity, and inclusion in all its activities. This position will also play a key role for the organization and our growing Mission Rock team.

Archives

Archives is our centralized department responsible for collecting, cataloging, organizing, preserving and displaying Giants memorabilia and artifacts.  We are continually exploring new ways to use the archives to grow the Giants brand, including a possible on-line museum and traveling exhibits with Giants partners and local museums.  This group serves as a resource on Giants history. 

Giants Community Fund

The Giants Community Fund, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, collaborates with the San Francisco Giants by using baseball as a forum to encourage underserved youth and their families to live healthy, productive lives. The Fund supports Junior Giants leagues throughout Northern California, Nevada and Oregon and provides assistance to targeted community initiatives in the areas of Education, Health and Violence Prevention.


Business Operations

Ticket Sales and Service

Responsible for the sales, strategy, planning and customer service on tickets for San Francisco Giants games and other miscellaneous events at Oracle Park. This includes advance sales of individual, group, premium, and season ticket sales via the web, phone and box office; ticket operations and fulfillment; and customer service on advance sales. In-park ticket sales and customer service on game-days are handled by the Ticket Office and the department is also responsible for all internal and employee ticket requests.

Business Analytics

The vision for this service department will be to lead an organizational effort to better leverage customer and business data in order to drive more informed business decisions and improved results. Business Analytics works collaboratively with other departments, providing benefit through better information and analytic support.  Potential areas of focus include data infrastructure, ROI assessment, customer segmentation, market research and revenue modeling, as well as the expansion of our reporting, Salesforce and data visualization systems.

Retail

This group serves as a liaison to Fanatics relationship as part of our partnership to operate the Giants retail locations. Includes our MLB Authentication Program as we grow our Game-Used business.

Marketing & Advertising

Marketing is responsible for all the outbound branding and messaging of the club. This includes advertising, promotions, special events, social media, corporate communications, broadcasting and creative services.

Content & Entertainment

The Emmy Award-winning San Francisco Giants Productions (SFG Productions) is the official in-house production company of the San Francisco Giants. SFG Productions create content that gives fans the opportunity to go 'behind the scenes' with the Giants with exclusive shows, player interviews and a live batting practice feed. Previously “Creative Services,” the Design Studio ensures our brand is represented appropriately through all creative Design Studio projects. Includes Photography, Media Systems and Workflow and our Live Entertainment and Experience group comprised of talent and producers responsible for the game entertainment and experience in the ballpark.

Brand Development & Digital Media

This department is focused on growing our social presence as well as the refinement and direction of our Ballpark App in alignment with creative direction of our marketing and advertising campaign,


Partnerships & business Development

Partnerships & Business Development is responsible for all sponsorship sales and new business development at Oracle Park. In addition, Partnership & Business Development oversees the Giants Hispanic marketing, broadcast and outreach efforts, Giants Marketing group – which manages sponsorship development for third party events and properties  and the business relationships with the team’s flagship radio station, KNBR. as well as the sells and overall relationship management of all premium seating season tickets. This department is also responsible for the management of all premium clubs within the ballpark.


Administration

Ballpark Operations

Responsible for the operation of all events and construction projects at Oracle Park and management of operations staff and event personnel, which includes Security, Groundskeepers, Maintenance and Event Crew. Guest Services maximizes the Giants fan experience by providing best-in-class service at events and on game days Oracle Park. Our ushers, greeters, Coca-Cola Fan lot, luxury suite and club level staff play a key role in this department.  The majority of these employees are on the front lines providing the highest quality experience for our fans. 

Giants Enterprises

Powered by a top-rated management team and roll-up-the-sleeves creative muscle, Giants Enterprises helps businesses and organizations throw one-of-a-kind experiences at Oracle Park and throughout San Francisco. From intimate to huge, formal to playful, jaw-dropping to heartwarming, GE deliver everything one would need to host events that are second to none. GE’s roster of services includes campaign management, commercial development, catering, ticketing, marketing and public relations. 

Event Services & Strategy

The Event Strategy and Services (ESS) department collaborates with all Giants departments to execute non-baseball events. The ESS department works hand in hand with internal departments within the organization on programs and events and partners with Ballpark Operations to establish and implement new Standard Operating Procedures. If you are planning an event at the ballpark for internal or external customers, the Event Strategy and Services group should be your first stop.


People & Culture

The People & Culture department partners across all areas of the Giants front office focused on creating programs to attract, motivate, develop and retain the high performers needed to drive the organization, building people management and leadership capabilities, driving programs to effectively manage compensation and benefit costs and continuously enhancing organizational culture and employee morale.  We also seek to improve people operations efficiencies and manage risk effectively.


Finance, AcCOUNTING & OFFICE SERVICES

This department partners with department heads to set strategies for the business through budgeting, forecasting, and interpreting key operating indicators.  Responsible for paying all operating expenses of the Club, tracking and recording all economic transactions, ensuring proper internal controls and policies to safeguard club assets, as well as tax and financial compliance.


Information Technology

The IT department provides strategic direction and day to day IT operational support in making the Giants as one of the most innovative teams in sports.  Responsibilities include infrastructure, systems architecture, networks, computer and auxiliary operations, desktop support, data security, audio visual systems, broadcast cabling and related infrastructure, and applications development.


Legal & Government Relations

The Legal department is responsible for all of the team’s legal matters and for managing the team’s many and complex relations with the City & County of San Francisco and other governmental entities, community affairs, and compliance with applicable laws and Major League Baseball regulations.


STRATEGY & DEVELOPMENT SERVICES

A partnership between the Port of San Francisco and the San Francisco Giants, is the culmination of eight years of neighborhood outreach and community planning, and outlines specific steps for transforming a surface parking lot into a new affordable homes, jobs and waterfront open space.
