Frequently Asked Questions

As you progress through your orientation a number of questions may arise. Below are the answers to the most commonly asked questions.  If you can’t find the answer you need you may contact the Human Resources department at hr@sfgiants.com

When will I receive my first paycheck?  

Regular, Full-time Employees:   Paydays are on the 15th and last day of each month.  

Part-Time hourly employees are paid bi-weekly.

If a regular payday falls on a weekend or holiday, employees will be paid on the preceding workday.

How do I make arrangements for a Direct Deposit of my paycheck?

You will need your bank routing number and your account number, both of which can be found on one of your checking account checks. Attach a voided check for each checking account. If you depositing to a savings account as you bank to give you the routing/transit number for your account, this number isn’t always the same as shown on the deposit slip.

We offer two different methods to setup your direct deposit:

1) Fill out the Direct Deposit form completely online and send an email to HR@sfgiants.com letting the HR department know that you’ve submitted a completed form.

2) Batter’s Box:

Within Batter’s Box our employee self-service system you can easily manage your direct deposit account information as well as tell the system how to distribute payroll payments between different bank accounts, such as checking or savings, and to specify the payment method, such as check or direct deposit via Payment Elections.  Please click here to access our guide here to make these changes on Batters Box.

What is the dress code Policy? 

Employees contribute to the culture and reputation of the SF Giants by the way they present themselves. Front office employees can choose what they wear to work each day based on their own schedule. Work attire must be neat, clean and appropriate for the setting and a good rule of thumb is to wear comfortable clothing that communicates a professional attitude (i.e., similar dress code to Levi’s Fridays - no frayed jeans, shorts, leggings, t-shirts, sweatshirts, spaghetti straps, logos). How long do I have to enroll in the benefits plan?  

From your eligibility date (usually your hire date), you have 30 days to enroll for medical benefits.

How soon do my insurance plans take effect?  

Benefits are effective the first of the month following your date of hire, unless you hire date falls on the first of the month and then benefits are effective immediately.

I’m a regular full-time employee, how soon can I start to take time off? It depends on the type of time off requests, such as vacation, sick and jury duty.

Vacation: Vacation can be taken at any time of the year when it is accrued. Specific arrangements are subject to supervisory approval and scheduling compatible with departmental operational needs.

Sick Leave: Sick requests are typically taken once you’ve accrued hours based on the sick leave policy which can be found here. If you have unforeseen injury and illness be sure to reach to out to you manager.

Jury Duty: If requested to be summoned for jury duty you are required to notify your manager and provide a formal request by providing written verification form from the court. If considered eligible the Giants will pay up to 20 days of jury duty to regular full-time exempt and non-exempt employees.

Which holidays does the San Francisco Giants observe?

How soon can I get my badge and access card? 

Upon your first day, the People & Culture department will work with getting your badge photo taken with our Creative Services department and you should have your badge and access card within 24-48 hours after your first day.

When will I get my computer / laptop issued to me and set-up?   

New Hires computer/laptop set-up is typically set-up in the first week from your date of hire.  It depends on your onboarding and assignment schedule defined by your Manager.  If you have any questions regarding your IT setup please direct all questions to your Manager.

Can I access San Francisco Giants emails and network files from home? 

Yes, you can access your email and network files and links remotely at: remote.sfigants.com

How do I access my employee profile?

All employees have profiles available on the intranet as well as the Giants Employee Serve Service website, Batters Box.

How does the San Francisco Giants handle employment or wage verification's ? 

The Giants use The Work Number® to provide automated employment and income verification’s for all employees.

Who do I submit tax withholding forms to?  Initial tax withholding forms as well as any updates made to your withholdings, should be dropped off with any member on the HR team.

How do I access information regarding the San Francisco Giants Employee Policies and Procedures (Employee Handbook)?

I will be commuting to work, what are my transportation and parking options? 

Driving directions to the Ballpark referenced below: 

From the Peninsula/South Bay

Take I-280 north (or US-101 north to I-280 north) to the Mariposa Street exit. Turn right on Mariposa Street, then left on Third Street to get to the parking lots. 

From the East Bay

Take I-80/Bay Bridge to the Fifth Street exit. Bear right onto Fifth St. Turn right onto Folsom and right onto Fourth St. Continue on Fourth St. to ballpark lots.

From the North Bay

Take US101 south/Golden Gate Bridge to the Marina Blvd. exit. Continue on Marina Blvd. past Fort Mason and turn left onto Bay Street. Continue on Bay and turn right on The Embarcadero. Continue on The Embarcadero under the Bay Bridge until it turns into King Street. Turn left onto 3rd Street (the ballpark is on your left) and continue across the bridge to the parking lots.

Taking Public Transportation to the Ballpark:

Muni Metro Streetcar service to the Ballpark is available daily on the N-Judah, T-Third and via other Muni Metro streetcar lines on game days. You can transfer from any Metro line to streetcars serving the ballpark at Embarcadero Station - look for trains headed to Mission Bay, Caltrain or Sunnydale and get off at the Second Street/Ballpark Station. Muni buses 10, 30, 45 and 47 also stop within one block of the ballpark.

From the Peninsula and the South Bay – San Mateo and Santa Clara

Take Caltrain from stations throughout Santa Clara and San Mateo counties directly to the ballpark - the Fourth and King Street Station is one block from the ballpark. Or take BART from Millbrae, SFO, South San Francisco, San Bruno, Colma or Daly City to downtown San Francisco. Then walk or transfer to Muni Metro to the ballpark (transfer from BART to MUNI Metro at Civic Center, Powell, Montgomery or Embarcadero).

From the East Bay – Alameda and Contra Costa

Take BART to Embarcadero or Montgomery Stations and walk or transfer to Muni Metro. San Francisco Bay Ferry provides direct service to the ballpark for most games and service to the Ferry Building at other times from Vallejo, Alameda Main Street and Oakland's Jack London Square. 

AC Transit also provides bus service from many East Bay cities to the Temporary Transbay Terminal, a short walk to the ballpark. 

From the Sacramento Area and Silicon Valley

With 17 stops between Auburn/Sacramento and San Jose, the Amtrak-operated Capitol Corridor is a fun and convenient way to travel to San Francisco and AT&T Park. Passengers from the Sacramento area can transfer to BART at the Richmond Station for service into San Francisco, or they can take a dedicated bus from the Emeryville Station that goes to San Francisco's Transbay Terminal, which is about a mile from the ball park.

Passengers from San Jose can take the train to the Oakland Coliseum Station and transfer to BART for service into San Francisco. The Capitol Corridor also stops at Oakland's Jack London Square, which is just steps from the San Francisco Bay Ferry. The Capitol Corridor sells discounted BART tickets and Muni tokens on board the train in the Café Car.

Where do I park? San Francisco Giants employees are able to park in Giant Lot A. See map below for the location of the Giants employee parking lot. 

Is there a parking fee?  Parking permits are available on a monthly basis for $120 or for a daily price of $10 per day with a Giants Daily Parking permit.
